Was this what you saw, Clay?

Clay. Did your hawk look at you like this?

Fr. Dorotheos looked at me a little like that.

(Okay, just kidding about that Fr. Dorotheos part, he could not have been friendlier.)

I think that is EXACTLY the hawk we saw. The one we saw didn't have its tail feathers splayed out like that, but the breast feathers and wing color looked like that exactly.

That was a quick hawk ID there.

Now to botanicals. We went to the Desert Botanical Garden today looking for desert marigolds. I was hoping to find five in 1-gallon containers or smaller. They didn't have any growing in containers, but they gave me some seeds, which I already came home and planted in the front yard in some vacant spots where many thousands of lantana plants have died, despite the nifty little drippers right there putting water gently on top of them every morning and every evening.

Any advice for my desert marigolds?

Also, I have this crick in my neck that comes and goes...

My suggestions for Desert marigolds - Home Depot, 1 gal pots, $3.99. Once established, they'll reseed every year just like your African Daisies. Well, not as rampant as your AD's. That's why I'd start with 1 gal pots.

Crick in your neck? Let's see, that's under "Pain-in-the-neck." I better leave that one alone.

By the way, thanks for taking care of Linda and the kids. You guys are the best!
