The Army has done the unthinkable - sent soldiers' mail and packages back because the FOB turned into a COB. If you sent a package to Chris within the past few weeks, it might come back. There have been many e-mails from the support groups trying to figure out the problem. Some say it's fixed, then it isn't, then it is. There are many very unhappy soldiers at FOB/COB Delta, let me tell you. I fear for the person who decided to send all the mail back.
Editor's note: See Chris' comment - he received two packages yesterday!
Here is a workaround address for now:
CW3 Chris Pedersen
HHC 2-285th AHB
COB Delta
APO AE 09331 (09317)
Chris says he will be moving to a different base in June or early July. So stay tuned and check back here if you want to mail anything. I'll keep the address in the left margin up to date.
Thank you to everyone who sends him notes and packages. It completely makes the day.
Love to all,
Linda Sophia

And now the Update to the Update:
The mail works! I just received not one, but TWO great packages. One from the Workman's who really outdid themselves (Thanks Workman Family), and one from what obviously had a Pat O'Toole influence. If I were an eight-legged animal, I could use all those air-pillow inserts at the same time! Thanks Linda & Pat. Both packages had enough car magazines to last me at least 2 weeks! Just kidding. More like 2 months. You guys are the greatest. I think I'll even share with the rest of A Company.
We've been told to clear out our CHU's down to one duffel bag & a tuff bin (footlocker). Guess I'll be living with a few less amenities. Oh, but I get to keep the fridge and Trigger. Whew. Thought I was going to have to fold Trigger up into a duffel bag, which would make him very testy.
Love you all and miss you. Only one week before I head to Kuwait. (Please tell Iceland to quit spewing volcanic ash.) I really need a break.
Love,
Chris
P.S. By the way, a "FOB" is a "Forward Operating Base". A "COB" is a "Contingency Operating Base", meaning we don't plan to be here much longer. And someone in the USA does pay attention to the ZIP Codes. But both packages came with the "APO AE 09317" so I guess that works, too.
